2014 Pumpkinfest

The 2014 Pumpkinfest planning has begun and we are pleased to announce this year’s Saturday night headline entertainment. The Tommy Steele Band will play Saturday night from 9:00pm to 1:00am. Tommy Steele is a hot new country-rock artist who’s new genre of Diesel Country has him bouncing from coast to coast as he performs many of his own hits along with a selection party country-rock.
This new national recording artist from Flint, Mi. has opened up for Brooks & Dunn, Leann Rimes, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Dwight Yoakam just to name a few. Tommy’s musical influences come from the likes of Lynryd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr., but he also can pump out rock-n-roll and covers ZZ Top, John Mellencamp, Bob Seger and even a little AC DC and Nickelback.
Tommy’s latest CD features songs that have been climbing the charts on the Billboard of Country music. “We ain’t drunk”, “Forever 17”, and “My side of the street” have recently been added to TNN’s (The Nashville Network) national broadcast playlist.
Check out Tommy’s website at tommysteeleband.com to listen to this year’s Pumpkinfest headliner selection.

2014 Membership Drive

The New Bremen Pumpkinfest has a handful of members who have been on the committee since its inseption in 2004 and it’s time for us to move on. Over the last couple of years we have added a few more members, but in order for this fall festival to continue to grow and sustain the reputation of being the best fall festival around, we need more members.
Those who have volunteered on other festival committees know how much work it takes to make every year a success and the Pumpkinfest is no different. During the Spring and Summer months planning, there are many small details and duties that need to be done in order to guarantee a smooth running festival. We have created a master list of these items/duties to help with the pass-down training, which makes it easier for new members.
Set up week is always a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. Working together as a team always creates the opportunity to learn more about each other and to understand what volunteerism is all about. A wise man once said, “Volunteers are not paid– not because they are worthless but because they are priceless”. No truer words have been spoken. The act of giving of the most priceless gift you posess, your Time, can be very rewarding, but given without expectation of tangable rewards can be difficult for some to understand.
During the Spring – Summer months, we meet once a month to discuss and plan the years activities. Beginning in August through September, we meet at least weekly to finalize all of the planning details. Each meeting last 2-3 hours and is in the evening so as not to interrupt dinner with the family.
So if your interested in helping to keep the New Bremen Pumpkinfest growing, drop us an e-mail at: growgiants@nktelco.net
Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you….

2012 Pumpkinfest Wrap-up

We apologize for not updating our website sooner, but a lot of the committee members have been busy with their day-job responsibilities, and we have finally had time to reflect on this years Pumpkinfest.  Before we go any further, we must recognize the many sponsors who supported us this year with either finances, manpower or resources.  Please frequent the retail businesses and thank those who helped make this year’s Pumpkinfest our most successful ever.

This year’s Pumpkinfest was our most succcessful to date.  One of the reasons was due to the reduced giant pumpkins that attended this year.  Up until about 2-3 days before our weigh off, it was unclear if we would even have it.  But due to the positive feedback we received from many local growers, it was decided to have it, but at reduced prize fees.  The growers still came and were happy nonetheless.   Special thanks to those on the New Bremen Festival Association for once again allowing us to borrow a few things here and there.  As thanks for allowing us to use certain items over the years, the Pumpkinfest committee re-built the french fry slicer in 2012.  It had a lot of wear over the years and hopefully our next renovation project will be postively received as well.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the new additions to this years festival.  The Artisan Showcase & Wine Garden got very favorable reviews throughout the day and we look forward to growing this event into something very special during Pumpkinfest weekend.

Also new this year were the wide selection of bands that played during the weekend.  We feel that we captured a genre for every age group throughout the weekend.   We have already had enquiries from local bands for next year…..don’t worry…EZ Rider will be back in 2013 !

Ok, now to list the winners of the various competitions throughout the day
